Residents who are keen to have their say about how gambling licence applications should be decided over the next three years are being urged to comment on the Council's latest Statement of Gambling Policy.
Sevenoaks District Council deals with all gambling premises licence applications in the District. Currently eight premises licences for betting offices have been issued in addition to a number of gambling permits for gaming machines.
The Statement of Gambling Policy sets out the issues considered when deciding an application and how local people are involved.
The Statement of Gambling Policy can be viewed on Sevenoaks District Council's website www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/licensing and in the reception of the Council’s Sevenoaks Offices in Argyle Road. Copies are also available at local libraries.
Residents have until 31 August 2009 to make their comments on the policy. To comment, please complete the feedback form that is available with the Gambling Policy and send it to the Council via e-mail to licensing@sevenoaks.gov.uk or post it to:

Cllr Elaine Bracken, the Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for licensing, says: "Although small in number, it is important that local people have their say about how we should decide local gambling premises licence applications, so I am keen that they take part in this consultation that runs until the end of August."
The new Statement of Gambling Policy will come into effect from January 2010.
