With spring just around the corner, local people can find out how to make the most of local wildlife with a series of free workshops, walks and information packs.
Sevenoaks District Council's 'Go Wild' project springs into action next month with its 'Spring Wildlife Workshop' that will be held on Thursday 24 April 2008 from 7pm to 9pm in the Sevenoaks Community Centre, Cramptons Road, (off Otford Road) in Sevenoaks.
The workshop will include presentations by guest speakers, will give advice and tips on how to attract and protect local wildlife and a question and answer session.
Places on the workshop are strictly limited and should be booked early to avoid disappointment. To reserve a place on the free workshop telephone Sevenoaks District Council on 01732 227000 or e-mail sus.dev@sevenoaks.gov.uk.
Further wildlife workshops are planned for later in the year featuring guest speakers on a range of subjects, including plants and flowers, insects, birds and animals and some of the more exotic flora and fauna around the District.
Cllr Felicity Broomby, Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for the environment, says: "With spring in the air many of us will be thinking about getting the most out of the coming seasons. Our 'Go Wild' project will encourage residents to garden in a way that will benefit wildlife and develop their understanding of our local environment whilst at the same time improving their health. The project, which may reveal one or two surprises about the flora and fauna native to our District, should be stimulating for both the mind and the body."
