03 September 2010The first food business in the District to be re-inspected as part of the new 'Scores on the Doors’ public information service has shown a huge improvement in its food hygiene standards.
Rendezvous Café Brasserie was amongst the first premises in the District to have its food hygiene scores published on the innovative ‘Scores on the Doors’ website, following a routine inspection by the Sevenoaks District Council's Environmental Health team on 27 November 2007.
On that occasion, the Westerham based business scored no stars out of a possible five, classed as very poor, and fell into the highest risk category. As a result the business was assigned for another inspection six months later.
Following the inspection the Council visited the premises and discussed with the co-owner a plan of action which was then put into place.
The next routine inspection took place on 4 June and showed improvement in all areas, leading to the business achieving a four star rating – classed as having very good levels of food hygiene. The improvements were:
Cllr Keith Loney, Sevenoaks District Council Cabinet member with responsibility for food hygiene, says: “This is one of the reasons why ‘Scores on the Doors’ was introduced – to achieve and encourage food businesses to maintain high levels of food hygiene. I am delighted that following a poor inspection the proprietors of this premises made such an effort to improve their rating, and that their hard work and enthusiasm has been thoroughly rewarded with a four star rating.”
