Reporters and photographers are invited to meet with Brasted resident and Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator Roger Rogowski and Andy Blackmoore from West Kent Police who were instrumental in setting up the District's first ever Cold Calling Zones.
The meeting takes place between 11am and 1pm in Brasted on Thursday 12 June.
Roger and Andy can explain why they set up the Zone and how they went about it. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions about how the new Zone is working in practice.
A Cold Calling Control Zone is an area which seeks to deter people from calling on residents face-to-face, at their doors, without having first made an appointment. It also warns cold callers that they are being watched.
The control zone is highlighted through the use of signs placed on lampposts in the area indicating that doorstep selling is not welcome, and will run in current Neighbourhood Watch areas.
Brasted and Sundridge became the first ever "Cold Calling Control Zones" in the District following the launch of the scheme at Brasted Pavillion on Monday 19 May.
Since then local people in the Zones have been given leaflets and door stickers that explain what is expected and what they can do to reduce the risk from bogus callers or rogue traders.
