Meet the key players that help keep us safe

News release issued on 04 June 2008

To mark the launch of the Sevenoaks District Community Safety Partnership's latest three year action plan, local reporters and photographers are invited to meet some of the key people involved in the Partnership

The meeting takes place on Monday 9 June from 12.15pm to 1pm at Sevenoaks District Council's offices in Sevenoaks.

There will be an opportunity for reporters to find out more about three local projects as well as some of the ways in which the Partnership works together, and time to put questions directly to the Partnership's representatives.

Robin Hales, Chairman of the Community Safety Partnership, says: "Tackling crime and making our residents feel safe is a priority for local people and it could not happen by agencies working alone. It is only by working in partnership that we can bring our wide range of skills and experiences together to tackle anti-social behaviour, crime and the fear of crime.”

The panel will consist of Cllr Keith Loney, the Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for Community Safety, and a range of partners representing West Kent Police, Sevenoaks District Council, Kent County Council, Kent Fire & Rescue Service, West Kent Primary Care Trust, West Kent Housing Association and others.

The Sevenoaks District Community Safety Strategy 2008 to 2011 contains 56 initiatives aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime, building on the success of the previous three year strategy.

The Community Safety Partnership is officially launching its new three year action plan from 9 June 2008 with a week of opportunities for the media to find out more about the work taking place in the District to reduce crime and the fear of crime and strengthen communities. The action plan is available from Sevenoaks District Council by calling 01732 227000 or online in the Community Safety section of the Council website.

The Partnership brings together all of the agencies in the District who can have an effect on crime and includes West Kent Police, Sevenoaks District Council, Kent County Council, Kent Fire & Rescue Service, West Kent Primary Care Trust, the voluntary sector, Kent Drug & Alcohol Action Team, West Kent Housing Association, Moat Housing Association, Kent Youth Offending Team and the Probation Service Team, West Kent Extra and the Kenward Trust.
