Save your pocket, share a car!

There is the perfect chance to counter ever rising fuel costs and help the environment next Monday (9 June) on National Liftshare Day.

With over 38 million empty car seats on the UK’s roads every day, it is also the ideal opportunity to ease traffic congestion and help the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

To help find a car sharing companion local residents and commuters can register for free at the Kent Car Share website. www.kentcarshare.com.

Kentcarshare is a free, simple and secure initiative that is open to anyone who lives or works in the District. It enables commuters to register their journey and to find passengers or drivers with a similar commute who wish to car share. It is run by Kent County Council, and Sevenoaks District Council is a member of the scheme.

Cllr Gary Williamson, the Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for transport issues, says: "National Liftshare Day is a great opportunity to find that person who could help you enjoy the numerous advantages car sharing offers, such as easing congestion, helping the environment, and of course saving hundreds of pounds a year in fuel costs."
