Swanley gets in the mood for dancing!

News release issued on 25 September 2007

Swanley residents can step back in time and dance the afternoon away to music from the 40s, 50s and 60s when the next tea dance comes to the town in a few weeks time.

The popular event returns to White Oak Leisure Centre on Thursday 1 November, starting at 1pm and finishing at 3pm.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for £4 from White Oak Leisure Centre. The afternoon includes tea and coffee, sandwiches, music and of course dancing!

Cllr Felicity Broomby, Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet Member with responsibility for community development, says: "I've been to some of the tea dance in the District before and they are immensely enjoyable. They are great social events, and very beneficial to your health. The only thing is they are always very well attended so I recommend that anyone thinking about going gets an advance ticket from the Leisure Centre as soon as possible to make sure they don't miss out!"

This is the third tea dance in Swanley, following two successful previous events in March and June of this year.

This event is being put on in partnership between Sevenoaks District Council and Sencio Community Leisure to try and improve the health and well-being of local residents, as well as promote social inclusion in the community.
