'Make It' to the Youth Zone!

News release issued on 27 July 2007

Parents in Eynsford, Hartley, Chiddingstone, Sevenoaks and Weald who are looking for a fun day out over the summer can take advantage of this year's 'In the Zone' summer programme.

Now a firm summer favourite, the Youth Zone will be bringing art and crafts fun as part of 'Make It' week to the five towns and villages from Monday 6 to Friday 10 August.

Aimed at children aged eight and above, the days run from 11am to 3.30pm.

This week sees many exciting activities taking place.

The In the Zone Summer Programme is run by Sevenoaks District Council. All activities are free and there’s no need to book in advance in order to guarantee a place. The programme has proven to be a huge success in the past with over 1,000 children attending last year and staff are even more keen to push the amount of fun activities children can participate in.

Parents and carers with children under the age of eight must supervise their children at all times. It is also advised that children bring a packed lunch with them. All children over eight will be registered when they enter and leave the site and can be left with staff for the day.

Cllr Felicity Broomby, the Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for young people's issues, says of the summer programme: "Make It week, as part of this year’s In the Zone, will give children and young people the opportunity to show their creative side in a fun and safe environment. Don’t miss out on this exciting and week of free events!"
