We had a fantastic summer with an amazing 2050 children joining us at locations across the Sevenoaks District! Every day we had giant games, circus skills, an arts and crafts tent, sports and play equipment, sensory balls and pre-school toys; so there is something for everyone. In addition, every day there is a themed activity - either a workshop, piece of equipment, activity or theme to focus the day and some days we got activities for pre-school age children too!
We want to know your ideas for next year!
Send us an email with your ideas for games and craft activities! - youthmail@sevenoaks.gov.uk. We can't promise to do everything that you ask for but will listen to all of your suggestions.

We also had our first under 8s workshops with Scallywags Minigym and Musical Bumps. Hartley hosted the Silly Olympics and the photos show the enthusiasm of the sportsmen and women as they took to the field again and again to compete in the crawling race, spaghetti javelin, jelly-on-a-spoon obstacle course and Mums and Dads and children 3-leg race!

Make It!
This week we got creative and encouraged children to add to our 'Under the Sea' chalk mural on the basketball court at Ide Hill and also made some beautiful rings, phone charms and bracelets.
We built robots, rockets, puppet theatres, animals and musical instruments on a wet day in Seal and built trucks, boats and racing cars in Otford.
We encouraged families in Swanley to 'Make Time for Play' as part of the national Playday celebration with action art, a jigsaw mural, games and play opportunities.
We finished the week in Edenbridge where children could make a bath bomb to take home while their younger brothers and sisters were on the Minigym.

Challenge!
We bought back some of the most popular events of last year for the Challenge Week. Challenger Troop bought a new assault course to New Ash Green where 'soldiers' were presented with a number of tricky puzzles to complete before being challenged to move as a team in order to get to the end of the course first! It was extremely popular event.
Another favourite was the Reptile Razzmatazz in Shoreham. More than 100 children were introduced to J-Lo the tarantula, a scorpion, bearded dragon, monitor lizard and giant toad. Zeus the python explored the hall by himself as he slithered across the children's legs so they could see him up close and stroke his scales.
We also challenged families to complete challenges and explore the re-vamped Harvest field Park in Crockenhill while in Chiddingstone there were volcanoes, snow, rockets and lots of slime and gunk of course it was the science experiments day!
We rounded off the week in Dunton Green, where the Parish Council had kindly agreed to part fund the Go Kart track in place for the day alongside the Scallywags Minigym. It was really busy that day with more than 250 people enjoying the sunshine, having picnics and playing games.

Do It!
Do It week was all about learning a new skill and taking part in new and exciting activities. We teamed up with internationally recognised Jugnu Bhangra dance group to learn fun Indian dance routines in Halstead, then got all designer in Fawkham with an amazing array of t-shirts designed and styled through the day.
Young people involved in The Play in a Day decided to create a modern take on Cinderella - Ecorella, a tale of an evil villain wanting to poison the world, magic peaches, ugly 'ROCK' sisters and the Fairy Goth Mother. Have a look at the photos to find out more!
In Westerham several groups of young people came together to create music tracks using music production software, microphones, samples and keyboards, while in Sevenoaks it was time for Britain's Kids Have got Talent. A professional dance teacher helped children learn a dance routine, strike a pose with some catwalk modelling and show off their acrobatic skills before their performance to parents and other children. Other performances included singing, ribbon dancing, break dancing, circus skills, jokes and freestyle dance. It was great fun and thanks to everyone who joined in.

Party!
The party week is always fun and this year was no different! Knockholt hosted the Teddy Bear's picnic this year and Musical Bumps were on hand with lots of teddy bear games and songs. We also had a teddy bear hunt, win a teddy competition, a Teddy Tailor for all your new teddy bear outfits and other fun and games.
It was Safari time in Edenbridge with a range of animals hiding around the park from 4 continents across the world. My favourite is the Lion Tamarin monkey from Brazil! Lots of children and families got involved and also made safari scenes, animal masks and played our animal obstacle courses and games.
The Mad Hatter's Tea Party came to Horton Kirby and we made big hats, small hats, rabbit ears, clocks set to 'teatime' and encouraged children to add to our tea- table by designing a teapot, teacup or placemat for tea. We also had a teacup hunt and children could have a go at Croquet.
There are loads of pirates in Hextable now after our pirate adventure took place! We had a treasure hunt, with over 150 pirate doubloons hidden around the park, made pirate hats and ship, treasure maps and eye patches. We played risky games with water 'cannon balls' and ended the day with a water battle using tiny water pistols. It was great fun!
The last day of the summer programme was held in Weald, on the village green. Although the weather could not make up it's mind, at least the high winds managed to blow the rain away a couple of times so we could play traditional party games on the grass! While the rain fell the arts and crafts tent got very busy with loads of badges, jewellery, woodcraft and balloon modelling and then when it stopped we had an impromptu disco/musical statues game on the grass. A fabulous way to end the summer!

We managed to book these for a day during February Half Term and over 100 children and young people came along to have a go. Due to their success, we booked booked them again for the Easter holidays - Follow this link to find out what other activities we did during the Easter holidays.
