Free Family Fun Days in the Easter holidays in 2010!
On this page we have:

Family Fun Days in the Zone at Easter 2010 The sun was out for most of the Easter holidays this year and we certainly enjoyed the chance to get out and about again with toys, games, workshops and crafts for Families and children to enjoy!
The van and In the Zone Team travelled to 6 different places to run fun workshops, play games, practice circus tricks and help children to paint flowerpots and plant spring flowers to take home.
We had more than 400 children and young people join us with their families for fun and games at venues across the District – here is what we did:
- Swanley – A day of inclusive games to enable everyone to join in! We played Boccia and Polybat, New Age Kurling and Goalball. These games are great as disabled and non disabled children can play together on an equal level. You can find out more about all these games on the Kent Disability Sports website. We also worked with children to help them paint flowerpots and plant Violas to take home and grow on the windowsill.
- Edenbridge – We booked a huge bouldering wall at the Edenbridge Centre and there were loads of kids scaling the walls and making their way around the obstacles. They made it look easy too – climbing through hoops and racing each other from point to point. It was really good and bought children in from across the town and surrounding villages. The stage was our painting and planting area and some lovely pots were made on the day.

- Sevenoaks – The sun was out and it was almost as hot as a summers day! Keen to try new things we booked a Human Table Football Table for kids to enjoy and it went down a treat! Around 100 children and their families came along to join us for the day and although you have to be attached with velcro to a metal bar in order to play, it looked great fun! We also made our own cheerleading pom poms from bin bags and our dance teacher lead some fantastic cheerleading routines.
- Horton Kirby – Another glorious warm day but we had booked an ice rink! It was an artificial ice rink so it didn’t melt and more than 70 children and their families were able to try it out! Artificial ice is harder to skate on than normal ice but children as young as age 3 had a go and managed to stay upright (for some of the time!) We also used the back field for ball games, circus skills and toys and the stage for our flower pot painting, planting Pansies and mask making.
Skateboard and BMX coaching at Sevenoaks and Swanley – we had the run of the skateparks at Greatness Recreation Ground and Swanley St Mary’s Recreation Ground at the end of the school holidays. More than 100 children flocked to the Sevenoaks skatepark to pick up tips and tricks from the Skateboard and BMX coaches from Skaterham Indoor skatepark in Caterham and have a go with our circus skills equipment in the sunshine!
It was not as warm in Swanley but a hardy 50 or so children and young people turned up to try out the ramps and learn about getting started on vert ramps on a BMX – it’s more complicated than you might imagine! The skateboard coaches were also in demand helping beginners to build the confidence to roll in from the top of the ramp for the first time! A great achievement!
Here is our evaluation of the 'Smilie Board'
All the way through the Easter activities we were asking for your feedback on the activities, games and workshops we did – by painting your hand and making your mark on our board to show if you thought our activities were good, alright or boring, and writing us messages on the graffiti board!
