More than 2000 children enjoy free fun this summer!

What an amazing summer (apart from the weather)! More than 2000 children attended the free fun activities provided by the In the Zone summer programme during August this year and it was so much FUN!

Sports Week - included football coaching, silly olympics with the spaghetti javelin, Shotokan Karate, archery with children from age 3 having a go and a multi skills challenge day.
Make It Week - we got creative with amazing spaceships made from recycled scrap, brilliant sellotape sculpting, BIG art, making bath bombs in the rain, truck building and making pretty beaded bangles and rings.
Challenge Week - loads of people honked the air horn at the top of the climbing wall in Edenbridge, met a giant toad and stoked a snake in Weald, found out about magnets and air pressure in Shoreham, tested their skills on the Challenge Trail and rescued an injured soldier by completeing the Challenger Troop assault course in Otford.
Performing Arts Week - we did South African gum boot dancing, designed amazing T-shirts, bags and pencil cases, made a lot of noise with water carriers and cardboard tubes, created superheros and danced all day to High School Musical!
Party Week - We partied all week with loads of teddies on Tuesday, limbo competitions and dodgeball on Wednesday, Owls and animal games on Thursday and a big party day on Friday with games and cake for everyone!

Each day we also provided circus skills and balance and co-ordination equipment, arts and crafts, sports, face painting and fun and games so there is always something for everyone!

Activities for Under 8s

Last year we had a staggering 1428 children and young people come and join the fun and almost half of these were children under 8 years old coming along with their mums and dads or carers. To help them enjoy their day just as much as their older brothers and sisters we bought some new equipment for them to play with and also organised some fun workshops just for them!

Scallywags mini-gym with soft play and gymnastic equipment for 0-7 year olds and Rhythm Express music, puppetry and percussion workshops for children aged 2-5 were both really popular and hundreds of young children had a great time singing, dancing jumping, balancing, tumbling and laughing all summer long!
