The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF)
What?
A government fund, which, combined with the Youth Capital Fund, will 'Give a voice and influence to young people … to improve things to do and places to go'
Grants can be used to pay for equipment, materials, activities, transport, staff and instructors, training or anything which helps to provide a positive experience for young people.
This includes opportunities for them to play sport, enjoy artistic and cultural activities, go on trips, or simply enjoy free time in their own communities.
Why?
In 2005 the government published 'Youth Matters' explaining its intentions for youth provision. It committed 115m national for 'things for young people to do and places for young people to go'.
The fund has also been set up to give young people a voice 'to empower young people and to give them more choice and influence over provision and facilities in the area'
Who?
The funds are for Young people aged between 13 - 19. (up to 25 for young people with learning disabilities)
Any not-for-profit organisation making provision for young people may apply.
Applications are also welcome from groups of young people themselves, although grants to individuals are not permitted.
Young people must be involved in the application process.
How Much?
You can apply for grants for £250 to £7,000. There is no requirement for 'partnership funding' although, if you have raised funds yourselves or from elsewhere, this will be viewed favourably.

Grants from the Youth Capital Fund can be used to build a new or refurbish, and to, or improve existing facilities. Specialist equipment (eg stage lighting, skateboard ramps), ICT equipment and vehicles can all be funded.
