Sevenoaks District Play Strategy
The Sevenoaks District Play Strategy was adopted by the District Council in February 2007. The strategy was developed by a multi-agency Play Partnership which includes representatives from the voluntary sector, Kent County Council, Health, the Police and parish councils.
Following consultation with children, young people and their parents, the document sets out a vision for play provision in the District over the next three years.
The strategy supported a successful funding application to the Big Lottery Fund's Children's Play programme for over £200,000 which will provide new play opportunities for children and young people across the District.
The play projects funded by the Big Lottery Fund are:
King George's Field, Westerham - improved play equipment has already been installed, including a climbing cone and adventure trail. Managed by Westerham Parish Council, the new facility was officially opened on 27th October.
Greatness skate park - led by Sevenoaks Town Council, this project will provide a new wheeled sports area at Greatness Recreation Ground and is scheduled to be in place by summer 2008. Young people who would like to be involved in the development of this project should contact Sevenoaks Town Council on 01732 459953 or email

Swanley Park Water Play - led by Swanley Town Council, the project includes enhancements to the current water and sand play area with new water jets and improved access.
Harvestfield at Crockenhill - led by Crockenhill Parish Council, the project will improve access to 22 acres of open space and woodland providing free play opportunities for children and young people in the area.
Stangrove Park - led by Edenbridge Town Council, a new "Abilitywhirl" is due to be installed in the park outside the leisure centre. This equipment will provide a fun activity for children of all abilities.
