Has the Stag closed?
The Stag closed at the end of business on Monday 7 July 2008 following an announcement from Kino Holdings Ltd who operate the Stag theatre and cinema complex.
Why has is closed?
Kino has given the following reasons:
I’ve purchased a ticket for a future performance. What’s happening to the money?
Kino assured the Council some months back that all advance ticket receipts were held in a ring fenced account. This account was verified by the Bank.
For further information about this, please contact Kino Holdings Ltd by e-mailing enquiry.sevenoaks@kinocinemas.co.uk, or by writing to Kino Hawkhurst, Rye Road, Hawkhurst, Ashford TN18 4ET.
I have booked/hired the theatre and/or cinema for a future performance/function, what happens to my booking/money?
This is something which Kino Holdings Ltd are dealing with. Please contact them by e-mailing enquiry.sevenoaks@kinocinemas.co.uk, or by writing to Kino Hawkhurst, Rye Road, Hawkhurst, Ashford TN18 4ET.
I would like to book the theatre/cinema for an event, when will it be reopened?
The Council is now taking stock of the situation and considering the options for reopening the Stag however, no date for reopening is available at this stage.
Who owns the STAG building?
Sevenoaks District Council owns the building and as agreed, Kino handed it back on Tuesday 8 July 2008.
What will happen to the building in the future? and How long will it be closed?
Early consideration of the situation began with a report to the Council’s Public Cabinet meeting on Thursday 10 July 2008. At this meeting, the Council considered options available to it.
At the meeting, Cabinet members resolved that Sevenoaks District Council Officers continue, as a matter of urgency, to investigate options with providers, for re-opening the STAG, to provide theatre, cinema and youth outreach programmes. See 'Latest News on the STAG' for further details.
