Supported Housing

This section contains information about the supported housing available in the Sevenoaks District for people with learning disabilities and mental health issues.  Here you can also find out about Floating Support which is extra help available free of charge and is provided by a Support Worker on a wide range of issues, designed to help you continue living in your current home.

There are a number of organisations in the Sevenoaks District that provide specialist supported housing for people with particular needs.  Supported Housing is usually for single people and consists of a large house where you have your own bedroom and some shared facilities but some organisations offer self contained flats.

The type of people who benefit from living in supported housing need a bit of extra help to live on their own as a result of:

To access supported housing you need to be accepted onto Kent Homechoice, the Choice Based Lettings scheme for Council and Housing Associations homes in Kent.

Kent Homechoice is accessed by firstly submitting an application to the Sevenoaks District Housing Register. Once your application has been accepted onto the Sevenoaks District Housing Register, your case will be assessed by the Lifeways Team at West Kent Housing Association who will work with you to identify the housing scheme that best meets your needs.

Floating Support

Floating Support is a free service offered by Supporting People who are part of Kent County Council.  It is available to any type of tenant and also to people who own their own home.  The term “Floating” means the support is temporary, from a period of a few weeks to up to 2 years and can provide help on a wide range of issues such as:
