Empty Homes

An empty home is an asset at risk and a property that is left empty for a long period of time can have a negative affect on a community. The condition of an empty home can deteriorate quickly and attract anti-social behaviour such as fly-tipping, squatters, vandalism and arson.

If you own an empty home, it can soon become a wasted resource; what should be making you money is costing you money. Empty homes are more costly to insure and provide no rental income.

The Council aims to help bring long term empty homes back into productive use by working with owners and is able to offer a package of assistance to help achieve this.
