Do you need help finding a tenant?
The Private Sector Lettings Scheme is designed to assist people in accessing housing in the private rented sector by the provision of a Deposit Bond and/or Rent in Advance. The Private Sector Letting scheme does not provide a management service. Please click the following link for further details on the Private Sector Lettings Scheme (

If you are prepared to accept the terms of the scheme and would like us to pass the details of your property onto our clients we are happy to do this. As the landlord you would retain the responsibility of interviewing and selecting your tenant. If you would like more details please contact the Social Housing Team.
Longer term lets - leasing your property to another organisation
There are several schemes to choose from depending on your circumstances:
The Granting Homes Scheme is designed to help owners of empty properties or properties in disrepair to bring them into use. In exchange for an enhanced level of grant the owner agrees to lease the property to a managing agent or Housing Association. The Council will have nomination rights to the property for up to five years. For more details contact the Housing Team.
Moat Housing Group's Private Sector Leasing Scheme if you own a vacant property that is in good condition and you would like the benefit of a guaranteed income then it makes sense to use a professional organisation who will manage the property and return it in its original condition. For further details contact Moat Housing Group.
The Lodging Scheme if you have a spare room and would consider taking in a lodger you may benefit from using the Lodgings Scheme. Whether you are working or reliant on benefits or a pension you could still receive a significant boost to your income by taking in a lodger. For more details contact the Social Housing Team.
The Council in partnership with the Southern Private Landlords Association hosts 'Landlords' Meetings' several times throughout the year. The meetings are open to all landlords and potential landlords in the area. Speakers from the public and private sector give information on changes in the law, good practice, finance and new central and local government initiatives for landlords. If you would like to find out more or join our mailing list contact the Social Housing Team.
