Refuse & Recycling Collections
Sevenoaks District Council collects your refuse and recycling every week from your property boundary, or in some cases from another previously agreed location. All of your refuse should be out no later than 7am on your scheduled collection day. To find out when your collection day is, please call the Council on 01732 227000. Please note that if you live in a block of flats and share communal bins or a bin store area, then your collection day is most likely on Thursday. If you know this not to be the case (as it does vary throughout the District) call us on 01732 227000 to confirm.

We collect your refuse in black refuse sacks and your recycling in clear recycling sacks. Both kinds of sacks are collected on the same day at the same time, in some cases using two refuse vehicles (one for black sacks and one for recycling sacks), and in some areas with a single, split-body vehicle. Split-body vehicles' have two storage areas so that the refuse and recycling are kept apart.

Sevenoaks District Council also provides a fortnightly garden waste collection service for a small fee. Garden waste is also collected from your property boundary, but in this case from a specially designed 240 litre wheeled bin with an annual permit affixed to it, or from compostable garden waste sacks that can be purchased from us. Details about how to participate can be found on our Garden Waste Collection Service webpage.

Bulky Waste Collections
In addition to collecting white goods to be recycled, the Council's Bulky Waste Collection service can take non-recyclable items for proper disposal. There is a small fee for this service, and prices vary depending on what you need to be collected. Call us on 01732 227000 for more details or to book a collection.

How often do I get refuse and recycling sacks?
A roll of 20 black refuse sacks and a roll of 25 clear recycling sacks are delivered to every household in the District every 20 weeks. Two additional sacks are available for free at Council's offices during business hours, and further rolls can be purchased at our offices and at various outlets ( PDF File 56KB file details) throughout the District.
