Regional Plans & Policies

Information about the South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA) is available from these fact sheets:

Fact Sheet 1: What is the South East England Regional Assembly?
Fact Sheet 2: The Assembly's Core Areas of Business
Fact Sheet 3: What is the South East Plan?
Fact Sheet 4: Regional Government in England

In addition, SEERA has consulted on the draft South East Plan. This document sets out planning policy at a regional level and, once adopted, will supercede policies contained in the Kent and Medway Structure Plan.

Following on from that consultation, County Councils were requested to look at development provision through the region. In Sevenoaks' case, this is being carried out principally by Kent County Council. Part of the district is located in an area defined by the Regional Assembly as the London Fringe, which falls mainly within Surrey, although Kent County Council is leading the consultation on the Sevenoaks part of that.  Since this, an Examination in Public (EIP) of the South East Plan has taken place and the panel's report on the recommendations for the South East Plan has now submitted to the Secretary of State.
