Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report

The Council has completed Stage A of the Sustainability Appraisal of Sevenoaks District Local Development Framework, which comprises the Scoping Report and Context Review. Both documents have recently been updated to reflect new new national and regional planning guidance documents together with new local plans and strategies and LDF evidence base/background studies.

The Scoping Report ( PDF 8240K file details) sets out the following:

a series of objectives for sustainable development - these provide the 'benchmark' against which the policies and proposals in the LDDs are assessed;
the economic, social and environmental baseline for Sevenoaks District (i.e. the current and future state of the area) - this provides an evidence base to inform the SA; and
the economic, social and environmental problems facing Sevenoaks District - the identification of sustainability problems helps to determine the issues the LDDs should concentrate on and for which options should be developed by the Council.

The Context Review ( PDF 763K file details) analyses strategic documents of relevance to Sevenoaks District and draws out the implications of those documents so that they can be reflected in the Local Development Framework.
