Local Development Framework Objectives

The Council has developed seven broad objectives for the LDF based on the District's Community Plan and preliminary research.  The Council must ensure that these objectives are adhered to in the development of all LDF policies:

1. Promote community safety and improve the perception of safety.
2. Provide for easy access to sustainably located and planned health,education and other social infrastructure facilities.
3. Encourage measures to enhance the overall quality of the environment through the use of sustainable development principles including the avoidance of areas at risk of flooding and managing the risk of flooding,the reduction of pollution and good design.
4. Provide sustainably located, appropriate and affordable housing for those living and working within the District.
5. Maintain and enhance the environment of our urban and rural areas.
6. Foster inward investment and economic development within the District, encouraging local employment opportunities and supporting the local community.
7. Ensure all development benefits the community of the District as a whole.
