The Review of Local Plans & Policies

The Government is fundamentally reforming the planning system in order to make it faster and simpler through the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. There are new provisions for the replacement of Local Plans with Local Development Frameworks (LDF) and with the removal of Structure Plans at County level and replacement with Regional Spatial Strategies to be prepared by the Regional Planning Body, in Sevenoaks District's case the South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA). Further details of those changes are available from the Department for Communities and Local Government.  It is the intention of Sevenoaks District Council to be one of the first in the country to prepare a Local Development Framework (LDF). We have already undertaken work in co-operation with Dover District Council and GOSE,  on the Project Management of this process, Sustainability Appraisal of the LDF and in preparing our Statement of Community Involvement and we are now preparing other local development documents (LDDs) such as the Core Strategy.

More information on the process is available from the Local Development Framework page, or from the Local Development Framework Team, by telephone on 01732 227000 or email ldf@sevenoaks.gov.uk.
