Landscape Character Assessment

Sevenoaks District Council has produced a District wide Countryside Character Assessment, which forms Supplementary Planning Guidance. This contributes towards the formulation of policies and decisions at a local level, including the provision of essential background information for the Sevenoaks District Community Strategy theme, 'Green and Healthy Environment.' It is also be taken into account in assessing planning applications.

The project work has been carried out by the Babtie Group on behalf of  Kent County Council, Sevenoaks District Council and the Natural England.

The document is based on the policies contained in National Guidance, as set out in the main document under 'National Planning Guidance.' It is also consistent with the land use Development Plan policies at a local level contained within:

Kent & Medway Structure Plan (2006)
South East Plan (2009)
Sevenoaks District Saved Local Plan Policies Compendium (2008)
It is intended to supplement planning policies by describing the landscape character to which the policies apply.

The Countryside Character Assessment (PDF 4mb) is available for download as a PDF, or at our offices.
