14 March 2010Conservation Areas and Article 4 Directions
In order to safeguard the visual, historic and architectural character of Sevenoaks District, the Council has made various Article 4 Directions.
This requires planning permission to be sought for some of the works on properties affected by Article 4 Directions.
Owners of affected properties should be aware of these restrictions from notification given to them by the Council. New owners will learn of the Article 4 Direction from an explanatory note provided by the Council when it returns a local search on an affected property to a buyer's solicitor. Detailed advice on the type of work requiring planning permission can be obtained from the planning department.
