Planning history

You can find out the planning history of a specified site from 1948 using this service.

You will be informed about dates and decisions of planning applications, building regulations and other decisions that affect the site together with relevant reference numbers. This information can be used to help you request planning documents related to the site.

When a search is likely to take more than one hour, there will be a charge of £30 an hour together with any additional photocopying fees. You will be informed of the charge before we begin the search and invoiced after it has been carried out.

To help you keep the search time and any additional costs to a minimum, please specify the exact location of the site and start and end date of the period you would like us to search.

Planning history can normally be researched and posted or faxed to you within 10 working days. If this is not possible we will contact you to let you know when you can expect to receive it.

If you require a planning history for the past five years only, this can be done online via our PublicAccess service where you can search through the records.
