Why has the Council introduced the scheme?

| The Council has introduced the scheme for several reasons. The scheme will allow greater public recognition of the high standards achieved by many food businesses and will help drive up food hygiene standards in the few businesses where standards are poor. It will also give members of the public information they are legally entitled to receive in a readily understandable format, such as a star rating. |
