Flooding
If the Council's Emergency Planning Officer has declared a Flooding Emergency, the Council will supply and deliver a limited number of sandbags, free of charge, to homes in the affected area. During office hours, please telephone 01732 227000. Out of Hours please call 01732 462222. Please note that the Council will not collect the sandbags after the flooding has subsided. You will therefore have to make your own disposal arrangements.
Sandbags
Sandbags are also available to buy from the Council Depot in Sundridge at £2.65 each. Please note that you may have to load these in to your car yourself and quantities may be limited during periods of extreme weather. Sandbags may also be purchased from local builders merchants.
Please telephone 01959 567350 before turning up to check that supplies are available. Delivery of sandbags may be arranged in some circumstances for a £35 plus VAT delivery charge, but we may not be able to do this during a declared Flood Emergency. The bags will last a while and may be kept for future use. Once the sandbags are no longer required customers should dispose of them, either by using the sand in the garden or by taking the bags to the nearest household waste and recycling centre.
Road gritting
Gritting of roads during the winter months is the responsibility of Kent Highways, call 08458 247 247 or e-mail county.hall@kent.gov.uk.
Road salt
Bags of road salt are usually available from local builders' merchants or DIY stores. Salt is not available at Sevenoaks District Council's Depot.
