What is MEND? 
MEND is a FREE 10 week after school healthy living programme.  Places on the MEND Programme are FREE to families who have a child aged between 7-13 who are above a healthy weight for their age. This may of been brought to your attention through the School's Measurement Programme or a health professional.

The programme is a nationally recognised initiative, developed by Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Institute of Child Health, and is a scientifically proven way to get families fitter, healthier and happier. The programme locally is co-ordinated by Sevenoaks District Council in partnership with NHS West Kent and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.

If you are unsure whether your child is above a healthy weight, you can find out by using MEND's BMI calculator. Just enter your child's age, sex, height and weight and click 'Calculate Now' to know your child's BMI value (Body Mass Index) and what it means. 

How do I join MEND in my local area?
Programmes are offered on a rota basis throughout towns and villages within Sevenoaks District and Tunbridge Wells Borough, and normally held at your local Leisure Centre, primary school or village hall.  There is a maximum of 15 family places available on each programme and places are offered on a first come, first served basis.  

If you are interested in joining MEND, you can either:

Places must be booked in advance and your start date will be advised when registering. Once, you have registered your interest, you will receive a confirmation letter by post along with consent and medical forms for you to return before the programme starts.

Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time: 6pm to 8pm

Tonbridge and Malling
Venue:
Hugh Christie Technology College, White Cottage Road, TN10 4PU
Start Date: 16th January 2013
Days:  Mondays and Wednesdays
Time: 4-6pm

Tunbridge Wells
Venue:
Weald Sports Centre, Angley Road, Cranbrook, TN17 2PN
Start Date: 17th January 2012
Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time: 6-8pm
