It's Never Too Late to Learn!
A basic computer course is available for people over the age of 50 living in the Sevenoaks District. The courses have been created as part of Healthy Lifestyles Project which aims to support independent living, provide mental stimulation and enhance the quality of life of older people.
The computer course is organised by Sevenoaks District Council in partnership with Sencio Community Leisure and Kent County Council and is funded by NHS West Kent as part of the National Choosing Health agenda which aims to make healthy choices easier.
Silver Surfers is aimed at people with very little or no experience of computers and teaches them a basic understanding of computers for personal use including using the internet, communicating through e-mails and basic word processing. One 70 year old participant who completed the course at Edenbridge said "A whole new world has opened up to me that I previously knew little about and thanks to the Silver Surfer course, I can now make the most of it.”
If you are interested in attending the next Silver Surfers computer course which will be in November 2008 please telephone 01732 227000 to register your interest, alternatively you can email: HealthyLiving@sevenoaks.gov.uk
