Like other authorities we have an obligation to report on national Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs) set out by the Department for Local Government and communities (DCLG).
We also have developed Local Performance Indicators (LPIs) to reflect our local priorities which are along with BVPIs used for internal and external reporting.
Management information on our performance system is also available for day-to-day use by our managers.
We have successfully implemented and are continually developing our Performance Management Process (

Our current corporate objectives can be viewed in our latest Corporate Performance Plan 2006/2007 (

By having authority wide performance information in one location allows us to look for trends over time, compare ourselves with other authorities and produce meaningful reports which can guide community, organisational, service and individual improvements.
We are also able to monitor targets to ensure they are both achievable and challenging enough to drive continuous improvement.
One advantage of this Performance Management System is it allows us to keep you updated regarding the latest performance information through Online Performance Books which are updated every month.
If you would like to compare our performance with other local authorities, view the Best Value pages on the DLGC Performance website.
