2010 Community Plan Launch

More than 800 people packed out the launch of the latest Sevenoaks District Community Plan as part of a family fun day.

The launch took place on 2 June at Wildernesse School and Leisure Centre and was an opportunity for Sevenoaks District Council and its partners to thank local people for their invaluable contributions to the plan and to showcase a range of fun-filled activities that reflect the community’s key priorities.

Activities for young people included roller skating, human size inflatable table football, the Youth Zone’s silly Olympics, football workshops and table top games.

Those brave enough to see how they'd look in 50 years time used Kenward Trust's 'ageing' computer and there was the chance to take a spin on a smoothie-making bike!

The winners of the District-wide school drawing competition, which challenged pupils to come up with a visual representation of their local community, were named as nine year old Ela Zorbozan from Dunton Green Primary School and ten year old Dion Osborne-Rafiq from Churchill C Of E Primary School. Both scooped leisure passes from Sencio Community Leisure and Stag Community Arts Centre cinema passes.

While young people were being entertained, adults had their cars fitted with tamper-proof number plate screws and received fire safety, energy saving, planning, business, debt and careers advice.

The Community Plan for 2010 to 2013 is the latest phase of the District's ten year Community Plan called 'Making It Happen – Together'. It sets out a decade-long vision for the District and is reviewed every three years to ensure it remains relevant to changing needs. Its priorities were identified by local people following wide ranging consultation.
