Registration is free of charge, lasts for three years and must be renewed on or before the expiry date if you wish to continue dealing in scrap metal or running a scrap metal business. Applicants must provide the following:
The registered dealer must notify Sevenoaks District Council of any changes to these details or if they cease to be a scrap metal dealer.
Will tacit consent apply?
Yes. This means that you will be able to act as though your application is granted if you have not heard from Sevenoaks District Council by the end of the target completion period, which is 28 working days from the date a valid application was made.

Every dealer must keep a book at each place occupied as a scrap metal store detailing all scrap metal

Please note that two books will need to be kept where metal is processed and/or dispatched from premises but not received at that premises.
