Workplace Health Connect

Sevenoaks District Council is one of many local authorities who promote advice to smaller businesses. In recognition of the part that the Council, along with others countrywide, play in promoting this service, a new free advice service for smaller businesses in England and Wales, called Workplace Health Connect has been set up in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Workplace Health Connect has been designed to help Small and Medium Enterprises (SME). There is no single definition of SME, mainly because of the wide diversity of businesses. However, the common definition is a company of between 5 and 250 employees.

Work accidents and ill health can be expensive. Stopping them happening can save time and money. The smaller your business the bigger the impact will be if a member of your staff has a serious accident, or is off sick for an extended period of time. It could even put you out of business.

Workplace Health Connect provides free, practical and impartial advice on workplace health, safety and return-to-work issues, working with both employers and staff. The aim is to transfer knowledge and skills direct to companies so that they can tackle future issues themselves.

Further information is available from the Workplace Health Connect website or from Sevenoaks District Council's Health and Safety section in Environmental Health.
